In 2017, the Southeast Pennsylvania Transit Authority (SEPTA) retained JWA to study Philadelphia’s bus network, with an eye toward possible redesign.
The contract consisted of the first part of a network design study, ending with a Choices Report. The report provides exhaustive analysis of the existing system and its performance, and delves into the relationship between different data sources to build the case for a certain approach to redesigning the network. The project required extensive consultation with City of Philadelphia staff across numerous departments, as well as many departments within the transit agency.
