Martin Barna

Martin is a Principal Associate in our Arlington, Virginia office. He is a versatile transit planner, scheduler, and project manager who comes to us with nearly 20 years of transportation planning experience. Martin was most recently the Director of Planning & Marketing at the Alexandria Transit Company (DASH) in Alexandria, Virginia. During his time with DASH, Martin led the Alexandria Transit Vision (ATV) Plan network redesign project, managed the DASH Free Fares Program and helped DASH set new agency records in annual ridership totals with 5.6 million riders in 2025, a 40% increase compared to 2019.

Martin has previously worked at the Santa Clara Valley Transit Authority (VTA) in the San Francisco Bay Area where he helped coordinate the “Next Network” network redesign project and implementation, managed the “VTA Flex” demand response route pilot, and oversaw light rail and bus service planning for hundreds of special events. In 2023, Martin was selected by Mass Transit Magazine as one of their annual “40 Under 40” honorees.
