Columbus

Ohio's fast-growing capital city is working to improve the utility and viability of transit for its citizens.

As the capital city of one of the country’s most populous states, and the home of a major research and teaching university, Columbus shares many features with cities with robust and successful urban transit systems. In 2013 and 2014, Jarrett Walker + Associates teamed with IBI Associates to prepare the Transit System Review for COTA, the region’s transit agency.  This network redesign plan is geared towards leveraging those urban advantages to generate high ridership and improve the viability of transit as a travel mode for people across the region. It is currently on track for implementation in 2017.
